Links and URLs

You may need to link to a URL or a web page in your e-learning module. This may be a link to a tool or an additional resource for the learner. URLs can be hosted on the ICRC's intranet or externally on the internet.

  • Use short URLs where possible.

  • You may embed a URL on a slide to make it look neater. Create a meaningful link and avoid using “click here” or “read more”. e.g. Read the ICRC's latest strategy.

  • Use punctuation after a URL if it is at the end of a sentence, but make sure that any punctuation is not part of the link as this may prevent it from opening.

  • If you are listing a website on a printable resource, do not use a hyperlink because the whole web address should be visible for learners to print out.
