Instructions and buttons
Instructions⚓
Almost every page of your e-learning module should have instructions. These instructions will direct learners how to:
open an activity or resource
do the activity
close the activity or resource
proceed.
It is important that these instructions are short, specific and clear. Imagine that your learners have never taken an online course before and are unfamiliar with the technology, navigation and types of activities and resources. We strongly recommend you use the instructions in the Elucidat templates you have available for building your course.
Buttons⚓
Keep the wording on buttons concise (one to two words maximum).
Buttons should be in title case (first letter of the each word capitalized). However, in some tools, such as BranchTrack, you may not be able to customize buttons and they may be in lower case.
Be consistent with the wording on buttons. Don't say “Start Over” in one place and “Go Back To The Start” in another.
When referring to buttons, say “click” rather than “click on” and put the name on the button in quotation marks.

Common labels for buttons⚓
Start, Next, Continue, Submit, Back, Try Again, OK, Start Over, Go Back, Exit
Most of these will be built into the Elucidat templates.
