One of the greatest challenges for every SME (subject matter expert) is to give up pieces of content. This happens because of a common belief that knowing all the details makes someone an expert.

This is partially true, but let's not forget that SME's knowledge was acquired through experience. SMEs applied their knowledge and skills in real life. This helps them solve issues and make decisions on the spot.
